EESE READING CORPS

EESE Reading Corps was designed to respond to President Clinton's America Reads Challenge. This challenge, that all children read well and independently by the end of the third grade, was issued in response to statistics indicating that as many as 40% of our nation's third graders cannot read to learn. Indiana State University has hosted the EESE Reading Corps Program for 4 years.

The program here at ISU recruits work-study students and volunteers to tutor struggling readers who are in grades K-5. The tutoring sessions take place at the Vigo County Public Library (Main Branch) in the LifeLong Learning Center. As well as at the West Terre Haute Library Branch. Each tutoring session will be 30-45 minutes long and will take place twice a week. The program is FREE for students who qualify. If you have any questions about the program please contact Karen Wenning at 812-237-2967
