Project PRE: Partnering to Reform Education

Technology Workshops

The four day Technology Workshops of Summer 2004 was offered June 2005 for Professional Development Schools including; South Vigo High School, Chauncey Rose Middle School, Deming Elementary, and Meadows Elementary.  A total of 34 teachers participated in the workshop coordinated by Dr. Kenneth Janz, Director of Instructional and Information Technology at ISU and Project Action Coordinator for the Project PRE grant.  There were three workshops held during Summer 2005 at Sarah Scott Middle School, the Service Center for the Indianapolis Public Schools, and ISU College of Education.  The Sarah Scott workshop hosted 48 participants while the Service Center had 19 participants. Due to high demand, a third workshop was offered on the campus of ISU in late July and 18 teachers participated in this workshop.

Challenged with infusing technology into the teaching process, participants were introduced to strategies that would assist them in modifying and developing curriculum in order to integrate technology.  Divided into sections pertaining to different areas of technology, the participants were provided background knowledge of how technology can impact student learning and what tools are available to modify curriculum. Each participant who successfully completed the program and a required project were paid a stipend for their attendance.
